Choose the outcome before the demonstration
State the experience of concern and the measures relevant to it. Keep animal outcomes distinct from technical performance, operating efficiency and commercial value. All may matter, but they are not interchangeable.
Make room for a negative result
A useful comparison must be able to find no benefit or an unintended adverse effect. Specify the operating conditions and limits before interpreting a persuasive demonstration.
