Why Aelzia exists

A useful technology does not adopt itself. Someone has to understand the need, assess the claim, find the right people and follow a project through. Aelzia is being built around that work, with less animal suffering as its purpose.

The experience we bring

Founded by Paulo Lopes, Aelzia draws on a background in industrial commercial development and relationship-building. We apply that experience first in Spain and Portugal, while building the scientific and technical relationships each project requires.

Where we are today

We are developing our first manufacturer and operating relationships. Named partnerships, representation agreements, completed pilots and results will be published when they exist and disclosure is authorised.

What stays constant

Animal outcomes guide the work. Evidence must fit the setting. Commercial interests must be visible. Our hypotheses can change; the mission remains.

Why adoption is the focus

Research can identify a problem and engineering can offer a possible response. Between those points and everyday use lie decisions about suitability, investment, implementation and responsibility. Aelzia concentrates on this part of the work: helping a credible opportunity reach the people who could put it into practice.

Our mission is to find where sentient animals suffer, identify technologies that can demonstrably reduce that suffering, and work towards their adoption at scale. That ambition guides selection. It does not imply that any product, project or production system has already eliminated suffering.

Knowledge as part of the work

The public library shares selected research questions, technical perspectives and practical methods that can improve a decision. It sits alongside commercial work while keeping its sources, limits and relevant interests visible. Private research contacts and confidential project information remain outside the public website.
